2018 CHEVROLET CRUZE

A successful Chevrolet sedan, the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze, the company’s efforts to maintain it competitive against other popular sedans. Chevy launched the Cruze hatchback with its new diesel-powered engine, which provides greater cargo-carrying options than the sedan and more than 50mpg on the highway. 2018, the Cruze hatchback diesel from Chevrolet will allow you to mix the two.

Overview:

The Chevrolet Cruze is offered in 4 trim levels in model year 2018:

  • L
  • LS
  • LT
  • Premier

Performance and Fuel Economy

There is a standard 1.4-liter turbo-four in the 2018 Chevy Cruze, which is mated to either an automatic or a manual gearbox. A 1.6-liter turbodiesel I-4 with 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft is also available and may be connected to either a six-speed manual or a new nine-speed automatic that General Motors co-developed with Ford.

EPA fuel efficiency figures are 27/40 mpg city/highway with a manual transmission and 29/40 mpg with an automatic transmission. Premier versions get 29/39 mpg in the city and highway. The manual version of the hatchback gets 27/38 mpg, while the automatic version gets 29/38 mpg. The Premier trim of the hatchback is rated at 28/37 mpg, the same as the Premier trim of the sedan.

Design

A sporty-looking body kit is an RS package for the Chevy Cruze’s exterior. In certain cases, this bundle is available on LT and Premier models. The Cruze hatchback’s part tailgate and faux diffuser rear bumper design give it a very sharp rear end. One thing to keep in mind: the Cruze L and LS models’ standard wheels are 15-inch hubcap-clad alloys, which don’t exactly scream luxury. Standard alloy wheels are becoming increasingly common on competitors’ vehicles; thus, the Cruze’s inclusion of hubcaps as standard equipment is surprising considering the Cruze’s higher-than-average sticker price.

Seating

All four outboard seating places in the 2018 Cruze provide excellent legroom for persons of normal height; a center rear-seat occupant causes some discomfort, but this is anticipated. If you’re looking for a car with leather seats, you’ll have to pay an additional fee for the Cruze LT, which comes standard with a cloth. The Cruze includes a six-way manual driver’s seat adjuster; however, an optional eight-way power seat with lumbar support is worth considering. While the base fabric on the Cruze is sturdy and dependable, the optional leather has a beautiful texture to it that elevates the vehicle to a higher level.

Aside from the leather option, the Cruze’s interior materials are about average for the category. Front seats include soft-touch, well-grained trim, while more harsh plastic is in the back. There are approximately 14 cubic feet of trunk space in the Cruze car (14.8 cubic feet for L and LS models). The hatchback’s trunk expands to roughly 47 cubic feet when the rear seatbacks are folded down. Because the Cruze’s rear window is sloped more sharply than other mini-wagon rivals, such as the Ford Focus and Subaru Impreza, some hatchback competitors are roomier here.

Features

Those Cruze L versions you see in the newspaper have the most features, but they’re not overstuffed with frills either. A one-piece folding rear seat with a one-piece backrest in the Cruze L for less than $19,000. There are four speakers and a USB outlet, Bluetooth, air conditioning, and a rearview camera on board. But the 6-speed manual is the sole option.
