2012 Jeep Wrangler

There have been a lot of improvements made on the inside of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, but you’ll have a hard time seeing any alterations from the exterior. Additionally, its off-road aptitude and durability have been maintained without fail. Jeep has meticulously preserved the off-road capabilities of the Wrangler, and the vehicle’s on-road experience has been vastly improved due to an all-new engine introduced in 2012.

Overview:

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler has 5 trim levels:

  • Sport
  • Freedom Edition
  • Sahara
  • Call of Duty MW3
  • Rubicon

Performance

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 engine rated at 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Four-wheel drive is normal, but the Rubicon comes with an extra-low-gear transfer case as part of its standard equipment, making it even more capable. The vehicle comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with hill-start assist, but an optional five-speed automatic transmission is available.

Fuel Economy

In the performance tests conducted by Edmunds, a two-door, manual-transmission Wrangler achieved a startling acceleration time of 7.1 seconds while going from 0 to 60 miles per hour. A considerably heavier Wrangler Unlimited equipped with an automatic transmission accomplished it in 8.8 seconds. Regardless of the gearbox, the EPA estimates that the fuel efficiency of the two-door model will be 17 mpg in the city, 21 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined when equipped with an automatic transmission; the Unlimited scores 16/20/18, while the manual score is 16/21. Design

The exterior design of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler may be accurately described as iconic, one of a kind, and quite tough looking. From the exterior, it cannot be confused with any other new vehicle, and there is a clear line of lineage, appearance-wise, going back to the first Willys Jeeps.  The exterior of the Wrangler hasn’t changed much in recent model years, so it’s safe to assume that it will continue to look the same. The Wrangler’s ready-for-the-trail, military-truck pedigree is also reflected in its flat side sheet metal, trapezoidal wheel flares, and seven-slot grille, which are consistent with this lineage.

Exterior

Both the two-door Wrangler and the four-door Wrangler Unlimited are still available as trim levels for the Jeep Wrangler. The Sahara trims received a new body-colored hardtop the year before, and for the Rubicon, the new top scheme has been expanded to include both trim levels. The exterior has been updated with bolder hues and a wider color palette to balance the changes. Two quite distinct configurations of the Wrangler may be purchased: the two-door Wrangler and the four-door Wrangler Unlimited. The wheelbase of the Wrangler Unlimited models is increased by 20.6 inches, providing them a bigger back seat configuration and the biggest baggage room ever offered in a Wrangler model.

Interior Updates

When you get inside a Wrangler from a previous couple of model years, you may see that the vehicle has undergone quite a few substantial changes. To bring the inside of the Jeep up to date and away from its dreary appearance, which was vintage in all the wrong ways (read: hard plastic and switchgear from the 1990s Chrysler), Jeep put some work on it last year.

Instrumentation & Dash

The instrument panels and door panels have received new contouring, the trims have been updated and given a beveled or machined look, and the overall look and feel of the dashboard have been upgraded to a much higher level of sophistication. However, the dash has maintained its compact, upright, and professional appearance. You’ll find that parts like the elbow rest benefit from using surfaces with a gentler touch.
