2018 VOLVO XC60

Volvo is transforming its whole line of automobiles thanks to a windfall of Chinese money. Since then, Cadillac’s top-of-the-line sedans, wagons, and SUVs have evolved into sleek, eye-catching vehicles with elegantly understated interiors and abundant high-tech amenities to compete with rival luxury manufacturers’ offerings. Let’s look at the 2018 Volvo XC60

Volvo is now waving its magic wand over the XC60, a 5-passenger SUV, and the company’s most popular product. New Volvo XC60 competes with the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLC in the compact luxury SUV market, all of which have small exterior dimensions but are loaded full of features, as long as you’re ready to pay the price.

Overview:

The 2018 VOLVO XC60 is offered in 3 trim levels:

  • Inscription: 23 combined MPG
  • Momentum: 8-Speed A/T
  • R-Design: 24 combined MPG

Performance and Fuel Economy

Volvos are the pride of the ice and snow. People’s driving behavior seems to be affected by it. You can feel the Volvo XC60‘s cooled-to-the-touch performance. There will be no difference in powertrains between the XC60 and the XC90. It will also be available solely with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive for the 2018 model year. T5 models of the Volvo XC60 include a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine. According to the manufacturer, it should reach 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and peak out at 140 mph.

The T8 plug-in hybrid is late to the party. Powered by an electric motor and a 10.4-kilowatt battery pack, it generates 400 horsepower. Despite its hefty 4,599-pound curb weight, Volvo promises a 0-to-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds, which seems reasonable. As a result of the engine’s flawless operation, switching from a gas engine to an electric motor is a breeze. It has a range of 20 kilometers on a full charge. The T8’s regenerative brakes, which aid in charging the lithium-ion battery, have a mushy, artificial sensation.

Design, Comfort, and Quality

The 2018 Volvo XC60’s strongest asset is its luxurious, comfortable cabin, which rivals the best in class, including the Audi Q5 and the more expensive Porsche Macan. Thanks to features like Nappa leather seats, wood trim, and the panoramic sunroof, there is a sense of openness on the inside. A new accent strip that runs from door to door across the dashboard and may be furnished with genuine wood is a welcome change from the XC90’s bland black and gray scheme. A matte aluminum-Esque border frames the wood’s visible grain, giving the room a fresh look in an otherwise familiar setting.

Legroom and a supportive sitting posture have been added to the backseat compared to the previous XC60. There is a cave-like compartment behind the outboard cushions for storing cell phones, tablets, and other small personal belongings. Although I’m not sure of its value, it is unique to the XC60. Where should your electronic gadgets go when the battery runs out? Unlike the XC90, which has a single 12-volt cigarette-lighter type plug in the rear, there are no USB ports in the backseat. Rear USB ports aren’t a standard feature in the class, but they are popular in non-luxury small SUVs like the Mazda CX-5 (if you like luxury cars, the CX-5 is worth a look).

The XC60’s best feature is its interior, so start there. All unnecessary elements and surfaces are left out in favor of a clean, simple design. The XC60 dash is a bucketful of serenity in its most basic form, complete with a strip of achingly trendy driftwood. In contrast, a Q5 seems too complicated. The lower console and dash make the XC60 more approachable than its larger sibling, the XC90 (or its Orrefors crystal shifter). That doesn’t do it justice. It’s also one of the few interiors with a touchscreen in portrait mode. McLaren and Tesla have used it to their advantage, and the XC60 does the same here.
