2019 INFINITI QX80

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 is a full-size SUV with three rows of seating that can accommodate eight passengers. It’s driven by a 5.6-liter V-8 engine with 400 horsepower, mated to a seven-speed automated gearbox for maximum efficiency. There are rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants available. The Lexus LX 570 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class are two of the most significant rivals. Predictive front collision warning and automated emergency braking with pedestrian recognition are now included on the Luxe trim level, previously optional. A new Limited trim level comes equipped with 22-inch wheels, ash wood trim, satin-chrome finishes, and additional high-end features and materials.

The 2019 INFINITI QX80 is offered in 2 trim levels:

Performance and Fuel Economy

We accelerated the three-ton Infiniti from zero to 60 mph in less than six seconds, thanks to the 400-hp 5.6-liter V-8 and seven-speed automated gearbox that we used in our tests. While it is impressive for a device of its size, every other rival we tested was significantly more rapid. We were impressed with the engine’s consistent power distribution and quick throttle response.

Unfortunately, with a gearbox that delayed downshift, it wasn’t easy to keep up with traffic on the freeway. Aside from that, it ran about town with elegance, its exhaust noise roaring following heavy-handed throttle use. The QX80 has a maximum towing capacity of 8500 pounds in either the rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configuration, the same as the Yukon’s maximum capacity and 1000 pounds more than the Mercedes.

Design

The 2019 Infiniti QX80 had a significant facelift last year, and the results were positive. The underbite and extraneous bling have been removed, and in their place are crisp headlamps and a sharper grille. On the QX80, the most noticeable upgrades were in the front end. Its nose is less prominent, and a mesh grille houses a floating logo that elevates the design in ways that the previous iterations failed to do before. Infiniti removed the side grilles that looked like they came from Pep Boys in favor of a single piece near the front doors.

A lack of flair can be noticed around the sides, which don’t try to conceal the massive quantity of sheet metal with folds or other light-diverting techniques. The QX80 is running away from its old, bulbous rump at the rear. (The Armada, on the other hand, still has it.) The rear bumper has been reduced in size, and the tailgate has been outfitted with new lights that are more contemporary and commensurate with the price tag.

Interior

The 2019 QX80 sports a lofty, upright sitting posture that provides an excellent perspective of the road ahead, similar to other large SUVs. Although the regular leather upholstery is superb, the soft hides on Limited models are the most luxurious. The seats up front are roomy and supportive, providing all-day comfort for extended journeys regardless of the interior material. In addition to standard heated front seats, many QX80s may be ordered with optional cooled front seats as an option package. It comes standard with captain’s seats in the second row, but a second-row bench may be added for an additional fee of $250. There is plenty of leg space with a normal length of 41 inches, and tall folks will have plenty of headroom in the back.

Cargo space and ride

Behind the third row of seats, just 16.6 cubic feet of cargo space is available. The good news is that a power-folding third row is standard, allowing for a cargo space of more than 25 cubic feet to be created. The QX80 travels along the road in luxury and with little road noise regardless of trim level. Active noise cancellation prevents the massive 20-inch standard wheels from filling the interior with a steady drone from the tires. At the same time, the optional air suspension maintains excellent control over the vehicle’s movements when on the highway.
