BMW Company History :
BMW that is, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a Germany-based international motorcycle and luxury vehicle manufacturer. The company that started manufacturing aircraft engines now produces vehicles that are part of every elite’s garage.
The establishment of BMW AG occurred when Flugmaschinefabrik Gustav Otto company merged with BFW. In the later year, the Rapp Motorenwerke company became Bayerische Motoren Werke which then converted into an AG. The company subsequently transferred its engine construction operations, along with the brand names and company, to BFW in 1922.
Companies started displaying the BMW emblem on each of their company products in 1917.
Today, BMW manufactured vehicles are marketed under the brand names Rolls-Royce, Mini, and its motorcycles under the brand name BMW Motorrad. Ranked 14th largest producer of motor vehicles in 2017, Beamers are well represented still today. The Early Years:
After the war’s end in 1922, the company started producing railway brakes and inboard engines because of the prohibition on producing aero engines. The owner sold the company to Knorr Bremse AG in 1920. It was a year of the relocation of the company’s production facilities. The first Motorrad came out as the R32 and received huge appreciation at the Berlin motor show in 1923. It got a lot of praise because of its quality and thoughtful manufacturing. It was easier to repair because all the repairable parts were encapsulated. The experts consider it a milestone in motorcycle history.
After the success of its first motorcycles, the company began automotive construction in 1928 after purchasing the company Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach. Before the Second World War, the plant at Thuringia made all BMW cars. The first BMW car got a license from the Austin Motor Company that was then superseded by it’s own designs in 1932.
During the Second World War, BMW started producing armaments and became an essential pillar of the German war economy. The company produced many new sites for production to meet the demands for armaments at that time.
Allied soldiers occupied the plants after the Second World War in 1945. It then started producing household appliances at most of its plants. The first post-war car, the 501, was released in 1952.
The Progress of BMW:
The rapid progress took hold in the early 1960s with the launch of the 1500 at the Frankfurt motor show.. The company established many new plants to meet the rising demands. In the next decade, BMW extended its financial services to consumers. motorsport rolled out of showrooms in 1972.
They then started joint ventures with many companies in the later years, and it resulted in the production of the first diesel power unit.
The Company built its first production facility in the United States in 1989, and it acquired the Rover group in 1994. After long negotiations, they obtained naming and brand rides for Rolls Royce motor cars in 1998. During this time, BMW Group established a couple of foundations.
