History of Terex:

Terex is one of the most thoughtfully named automobile companies working to produce aerial work platforms and telehandlers. “Terra” means earth and “Rex” stands for king in Latin. Thus, the Terex equipment can be considered the earth kings. It has extended its production to materials processing machinery, utility industry equipment, rough terrain, and tower cranes. It mainly designs, manufactures, and markets the equipment used in manufacturing, maintenance, construction, minerals and materials management applications, and energy.

The beginning of Terex Corporation dates to 1933 when George A. Armington founded Euclid company to build hauling trucks. The owner of General Motors coined the term Terex in 1970 and the company was listed on the New Year’s Stock Exchange for the first time in 1991.

1930s to 1960s:

 After George A. Armington founded Euclid company, it remained the gold standard in dump truck manufacturing for many years. He also established the Armington electric hoist company in 1907 and invented his first scraper in 1924. Euclid launched the first off-road hauler in 1934. Euclid rapidly grew in the 1940s and became a major supplier the World War Two vehicles and played a significant role in war efforts. General Motors purchased the company in 1953 and expanded the business in half of the United States.

Throughout the 1960s, General Motors continued to develop, market, and sell construction equipment and drugs that didn’t come under Euclid antitrust ruling.

The 1970s to 2000:

General Motors

General Motors formed the Terex division to produce crawlers, scrapers, and front-end loaders. It created some of the industry’s largest heavy construction equipment. General Motors then sold Terex to IBH holdings in Germany which got bankrupt in 1983 and Terex went back to General Motors. Northwest engineering company then took the corporation from General Motors. The name changed to Terex corporation, and it induced a lot of diversity in the following years. Ron Defeo is mainly called the Terex president. Under his supervision, Terex acquired Simon Telelect as a division of Terex utilities business. In 1999, it acquired further businesses that included Powerscreen, Finlay, simplicity engineering, Cedar Rapids, and so on.

India

Terex progressed in India in the 2000s and acquired more companies that included Canica, Jacques, Genie industries, and Fuchs. In the immediately following years, the company joined financial services and utilities divisions along with all other companies, and became leaders in manufacturing reliable material processing products.

After 2010, Terex started producing cranes that involved many current technological features. It extended its values to a “zero harm safety culture” along with integrity, improvement, courage, respect, citizenship, and servant leadership.

Worldwide Growth and Expansion

The company has launched Evoquips in recent years along with many other crane units. It also expanded its manufacturing facilities throughout the world along with the introduction of telematics to offer great value to its customers.
